I got to know Raymond van de Wouw and his wife, Marieke as parents of Ruben, pupil of Jenaplan school De Bijenkorf, where I was principal at the time. An inspired man, actively involved in school, in the establishment of the Spilcentrum [together with Korein], member of the participation council, auctioneer in an action for 'The Glass House' etc. etc. As a notary, I got to know him when my mother wanted to settle her estate. It was obvious when, as a pensionado, I joined the board of the Eindhoven art club 'KEK 040', and we wanted to start a foundation, that we appealed to Raymond. He did so completely selflessly. Still later, as a member of the September 18 Foundation, he came to me to talk about keeping the idea of freedom alive among school children through the efforts of 'young' veterans.
