In memoriam - Hans Marks

We recently received the sad news that former notary Hans Marks passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the age of 90.

Hans Marks was one of the first notaries and namesakes of our firm, which was founded in 1949 by notary J.A. Govers. Notary Marks was the successor of notary Govers and not much later Mr. Wachters was also sworn in as a notary in Eindhoven.

Notaries Marks and Wachters were for many years the face of the office, then located on Ten Hagestraat. Numerous companies in greater Eindhoven were founded with the signature of Notary Hans Marks. He could also count many private clients from Eindhoven and surrounding municipalities among his clients until his retirement in January 1999.

Earlier, we had to say goodbye to former notary public Dik Wachters. With the death of Hans Marks, both namesakes of our firm are no longer among us. Because of their many years of association with our firm, their successors up to and including the current batch of notaries have decided to allow the name Marks Wachters notaries to continue unchanged.

Visit during anniversary year

In the fall of 2024, former notary Hans Marks still visited the current office at Insulindelaan in Eindhoven. As part of the 75th anniversary of Marks Wachters notaries, former notaries were invited for a visit to our office, a tour and a joint lunch. Hans Marks' visit was greatly appreciated by colleagues and provided an opportunity to look back at the development of the office and the early years of the practice.

During this meeting, Mr. Marks underlined that in the distant past he and our other predecessors already had the ambition to be progressive and he encouraged our current generation of notaries to stay ahead. This principle still forms the basis of our way of working. Marks Wachters notaries remains committed to providing high-quality, committed and accessible notarial services in Eindhoven, Nuenen and the surrounding area.
