On 28 July 1949, Mr. J.A. Govers was sworn in as civil-law notary in Eindhoven. He was the first notary in the firm that was later called Marks Wachters notarissen. Mr. Govers was succeeded by civil-law notary Mr. Marks and shortly after that Mr. Wachters was also sworn in as civil-law notary in Eindhoven. For many years, these two notaries determined the firm and a large part of both the private and the business community of Eindhoven were their clients. Many businesses in Eindhoven were started with a signature of Mr. Marks or Mr. Wachters. Many people from the surrounding towns of Nuenen, Geldrop and Waalre also came to Eindhoven to settle their business at Marks Wachters notarissen.

Because Mr. Marks and Mr. Wachters were so closely connected to our firm for so many years, the succeeding civil-law notaries, such as Peter van der Horst, Peter van Dongen, Raymond van de Wouw and Han Kersten chose to have their names associated with Marks Wachters notarissen for all time and to keep this name unchanged.
